Tye Adams Long E

I would love to meet
Lebron
James
And Madea
Yesterday our electricity went out
My sister feet stink
I love meat
Because it's good.
I'm hungry
I have to eat.

I wrote this as a poem or rap.  See how this flows now?

DAZHARIA AND THE SMELLY GEEK

I went at the beach
And I saw a geek.
His name was boloney.
He smelled his feet and I gave him a piece of meat
From the baby scene
In the valley
Next to the beach.

Read this as a poem so that when you read it out loud it has a flow.

I found this by doing a google search on it.  From the images page.

piece of pie

He moved his feet
As he wanted a piece of pie
So he went to the beach
Still no pie
But he met this girl name Salley
Her name was almost like talley
But it was funny
Cuz his name was valley

I found that picture by doing a google search for apple pie.  Do you recognize that symbol?  Look at how pervasive (or much that surrounds) our culture!

*I fixed this so it can read better like a rap or poem.  Try reading it line by line now.

The Rain Song

Hey all--

So I've been trying to write poems/raps/lyrics (whatever you want to call them) so I can one day sing and play them in New Orleans venues.  A dream of mine for over 2 years.

Anyway, here is my first try at one about the wacky weather here.

Rhonda the Honda says No Me Gusta
My car slams her breaks "I don't like"!
The wonky teacher Rocked to sleep by the thunder and rain
Gazes north to the clearing skies.
Skeet--street theres that long E
Stop to dissect the cranes.
Wading on Reed marshes.

* FIND THE LONG VOWELS (answers below)

wading--has the long a
breaks, Reed, sleep--long e
Rain,gazes--a
Dissect--long i

St Patty's Day in Savannah

Savannah Georgia is the quieter, more pristine (or untouchably clean) version of New Orleans.  Frankly, it made me uncomfortable.  I constantly felt like I was speaking too loud or that I would break something.  Everything is so fragile!

On Saturday my Jersey friends and I visited the St. Patty's day parade and again, I was shocked with how tame everything was.  I wore green suspenders and a feather in my hair and people looked at me like I was crazy!

While it was great laugh and hang with my friends from Jersey, I am happy to be back to the better city--New Orleans!

STUDENT WORK!

When I was reading, The Week, I saw a big house with a lot of lights on.  I thought, that must be why the light bill is so high.  This leads people to say "I'm broke as a joke"!

Reading response by Tye Adams

Ms R:  "What does that say about natural resources?  We have been reading about oil, water, diamonds and gold which can run out.  Energy from light can also run out.  The lesson is: Don't be wasteful!

We've talked about the "Screen Era".  What does this cartoon say about kids growing up today?
